Crown came through a stormy clash with Unsworth at Bowlee last week to earn a 5-3 victory. Tackles flew from the off in this game, and after one tough tackle too many skipper Andrew Fletcher was dismissed. In wet conditions this may have been harsh, but once Crown settled down they were always the better footballing team and deserved their win. They now lie in third place in the Bury Sunday League, behind Heaton United and Waggonmakers. This weekend they travel to Radcliffe Town.

There’s no excuses not to support your local teams this weekend – especially on Saturday as three teams are within 400 yards of each other! Hooley Bridge Celtic face a crunch clash in their bid to stay in the Premier League of the Lancashire And Cheshire Amateur League. Celtic sit just two points above Chorltonians, who occupy the bottom two spots along with Hazel Grove (tables in sidebar). They entertain South Manchester at the Leisure Centre in a 2.30pm kick-off.
