Celtic Sunk By Bedians Wonder Strikes

Two wonder goals sealed Hooley Bridge Celtic’s fate at home to Bedians on Saturday. They went down to a 3-2 defeat against a side who are also in a battle at the bottom of the table, and once again it was frailties at the back that cost Celtic at Heywood Leisure Centre. They were missing first-choice centre backs, which meant striker Ellis Ridsdale had to be pressed into action, while there were call-ups for the enthusiastic Billy Hilton and Mikey Grogan. This left Celtic even smaller than usual and despite captain Marcus Smith battling hard in midfield against a bigger…

Hooley Bridge Celtic were well beaten by a powerful Whalley Range side at Heywood Leisure Centre on Saturday. The reigning Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur League champions were too physical for Hooley, who were missing some key players – including the inspirational Marcus Smith – as they went down to a 3-0 defeat. A rogue dog caused a halt to play - and a popped ball

Hooley Bridge Celtic seconds put in a dreadful performance at home to Manchester Valiant 1st XI. The gulf between the two sides was evident, although at 1-0 down at the break Celtic were still in with a chance at Heywood Leisure Centre. But it looked as though none of the team had played with each other and they were totally outplayed by a good opposition team. They conceded two more goals in the second period, and as Billy Hilton said, the Christmas festivities seemed to have weighed heavy on the Hooley side. They remain seventh in the table, but have…
