Missed chances was the story of the day as Hooley Bridge Celtic firsts went down 3-1 to Old Trafford in the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur League.

Their last-gasp winner last week against South Manchester had given them some breathing space in their fight against relegation, and they were look Chorltonians – their main rivals for the second relegation spot – could only draw at Old Stretfordians.

Liam Mott scored Hooley’s goal but they were 2-1 down going into the final 30 minutes.

First Ellis Risdale missed a great chance when through one-on-one with the visiting keeper, then Richard Fitton – last week’s hero – saw a penalty saved.

In horrible conditions at Heywood Leisure Centre, it was inevitable that Old Trafford would take advantage of this and they scored late on to secure their victory.
