Get Behind Your Local Teams – Three At Home On Saturday

There’s no excuses not to support your local teams this weekend – especially on Saturday as three teams are within 400 yards of each other!

Hooley Bridge Celtic face a crunch clash in their bid to stay in the Premier League of the Lancashire And Cheshire Amateur League.

Celtic sit just two points above Chorltonians, who occupy the bottom two spots along with Hazel Grove (tables in sidebar).

They entertain South Manchester at the Leisure Centre in a 2.30pm kick-off.

Souths are the team immediately above Celtic, but have played four games less.

However, it’s a game they must feel they have a chance of winning, especially if Norman Kenyon’s young team play to their strengths and use their pace.

In Division A, the seconds have a week off from league action, but will be looking closely at Cheadle Hulme Villa Reserves’ clash with Hazel Grove Reserves.

The South Manchester side are four points behind table-topping Celtic with two games in hand.

In Division D, the thirds are at home to Old Stretfordians 3rds.

It’s a big day for Heywood St James in the Manchester League when MUTV come to Phoenix Park.

Jimmies play host to AFC Monton in a game they really need to win to keep their place in the Premier Division.

The cameras are there to film Monton player and former Man Utd youth player George Switzer, who was in the same team as the likes of the David Beckham, Scholes and the Nevilles.

On Sunday, another team I haven’t seen play yet – Heywood Rangers – are at the Leisure Centre when they host Bamford Grapes in a derby clash, ko 11am, in the third division of the Rochdale Sunday League.

Duke of Wellington are away at Crown and Shuttle.
