Trading standards officers are urging Heywood residents to be savvy in 2013 after receiving 3560 complaints last year. The service is providing top tips on how to avoid scams as they reveal the most complained about issues in 2012. The team are urging Heywood people to be aware of the following scams in 2013: Payment protection insurance: if someone contacts you trying to get you to pursue a claim, ignore it. Heywood’s elderly and vulnerable people have been handed a heating lifeline by Rochdale Borough Council. As we all know, having working heating and hot water systems in our homes is key to staying healthy especially during the colder months. Rochdale Borough Council’s Home Improvement Agency (HIA) is offering a helping hand to Heywood’s elderly and vulnerable households whose heating systems are not working, putting them at particular risk of health problems due to excess cold.
